Connect your OHIP billing to MDPay

For MDPay to submit claims to the Ministry of Health and retrieve your reports and remittances, the ministry requires you to designate MDPay on your MC EDT account. It takes two short visits to your OPS BPS Secure account — about five minutes in total — and you stay in control: nothing is transmitted until you click Save on the final step.

Before you start

Have your OPS BPS Secure login ready — the email address and password for the account that holds your OHIP billing number (the account you or your group uses for MC EDT today).

Visit 1 — Add MDPay as your designee

Do this now

  1. Sign in at www.ebse.health.gov.on.ca and select Continue.

  2. Go to Administration and MOHLTC Services → Designee Maintenance.

  3. At the Designated Accounts screen, select Add Designee.

  4. Enter Full Name MDPay MCEDT and Email mcedt@mdpay.ca, then click Save.

Type both exactly as shown — this is how the ministry routes the designation to us.

  5. That's it for now — log out. MDPay accepts the designation on our side within one business day, and OPS BPS Secure emails you when we have.

Visit 2 — Authorize permissions

After the email arrives — this is the step that actually turns billing on

  1. Follow the link in the OPS BPS Secure email (subject: Designate has confirmed access) and sign back in.

  2. Return to Designee Maintenance and click mcedt@mdpay.ca.

  3. Select MC EDT Service Upload/Download.

If the page looks blank after 30 seconds, go back and click the email address again — a known quirk the ministry's own guide notes.

  4. At the permissions screen, choose Select All.

Or tick individually: Claims (CL) and Stale-dated claims (SDC) upload; Error Reports (ER), Remittance Advice (RA) and eSubmit responses (ESC) download; eSubmit (ESU) upload.

  5. Scroll down and click Save — nothing is transmitted on your behalf until you do. You'll see a confirmation that permissions were saved.

What happens next

We verify the connection end-to-end from our side and confirm with you when your claims are flowing. MDPay never signs into your account — the designation lets us send and receive your files from our own MC EDT account, and you can revoke it in Designee Maintenance at any time.

Questions or stuck on a step? Reply to your MDPay onboarding email and we'll walk through it with you.
